IIBI has been a pioneer in designing and organising international conferences on Islamic banking and Takaful, or Islamic insurance, dating back to the 1980s. These conferences provided an important platform for scholars, regulators, practitioners, bankers, insurers and industry leaders to exchange knowledge, share practical experiences, and discuss matters of common interest affecting the development of the Islamic financial services industry.

Over the years, IIBI conferences played a valuable role in encouraging dialogue, promoting understanding, and supporting the development of sound practices, structures and standards in Islamic banking and Takaful. They also helped bring together different stakeholders to consider the challenges facing the industry and the changes needed to support its growth, credibility and wider acceptance.

From time to time, IIBI has also been invited to support conferences and events organised by other institutions. In such cases, IIBI’s role has been to contribute its experience, reputation and subject-matter knowledge in support of initiatives that are consistent with its educational objectives and its wider commitment to the development of Islamic banking, finance and insurance.
