The Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance (IIBI) is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee in England & Wales.

The Institute was established to serve the public benefit through the advancement of education, knowledge, and professional development in the field of Islamic finance.

Charitable Objects

The objects of the Institute are:

• To develop, organise and promote, for the public benefit, programmes of education, training, and research in Islamic finance, banking and insurance, and related financial systems.
• To develop, organise and conduct examinations, and to award qualifications, certificates, diplomas, and other forms of professional accreditation.
• To advance education and knowledge in Islamic finance, banking and insurance, and to promote research for the public benefit in all aspects of the subject.
• To act as an authoritative body for consultation and research in matters relating to education, training, professional development, industry practice, and public interest in Islamic finance, banking and insurance.

These objectives reflect IIBI’s commitment to supporting ethical and professionally grounded Islamic financial services, guided by the principles of Maqasid al Shari’ah, which emphasise fairness, responsibility, and the wider public good.
