Past Ibn Khaldun Lectures

The inaugural lecture was given by Dr Muhammad Umer Chapra on 10 November 2008 on The Prevailing International Financial Crisis: Can Islamic Finance Help?’ Dr Chapra was the Research Advisor at the Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) of the Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He made seminal contributions in Islamic economics and finance for over three decades in the form of 15 books and monographs and more than 100 papers and has received numerous awards for his contributions.
